Ahhh, mowing the lawn on a Monday morning with the breeze blowing in the air. Love the immediate result I can see with each backward glance. The best gift ever was seeing that riding lawn mower coming off the trailer in MY driveway a couple of years ago! An earlier walk offered me the opportunity to help an aging neighbor with her trash and enjoy a visit. Recovering from a broken hip, dealing with arthritis setting in, rubbing hydrogen peroxide on her knees and enjoying success, irritated with her husband for not doing anything to help around the house anymore like sweeping off the porch, and mad at the doctor for prescribing medication that had side effects, she slowly made her way back inside with her walker while I strode on my way listening to my ipod. Grateful for my encounter, remembering moments over the weekend that were as sweet, I now enjoy a cup of tea full of life as well. The tea bag is from Wales from a dear friend. The milk is from the Farmer's Market where I bought it on Saturday freshly delivered from the cow that very same morning! Why do we look for fulfillment in big moments, when it comes ever so surprisingly throughout our ordinary days and nights if we but have the awareness to notice?
