Sand in your toes, waves splashing in your face, a hot sun beating down on your shoulders turning them pink, eating shrimp on the beach with best friends...what weekends are made for. We took a short trip to visit our friends, ended up on the beach on a Saturday afternoon only 45 minutes from their home, back to our own late that night, but oh, what a great time we had. Sea gulls and sandpipers, sea shells and shrimping boats, beach houses painted all colors, piers with fishermen and the endless ocean reaching for the sand and retreating again, so constant and forever. The ocean and sky meeting in their vastness welcoming four friends as constant and vast in their love for and enjoyment of each other on a hot Saturday afternoon. In a changing world where little stays the same, it's soul soothing to be surrounded by the landscape that is unchanging, constant, dependable, secure and always filled with wonder.
