The Glory of Autumn
While in Louisville visiting dear ones, I got to truly experience the season of Fall for the very first time, discovering as a marquee declared on Bardstown Road, "the glory of autumn". My reputation in the family for "not taking enough pictures" at family gatherings saw some improvement complete with noticeable comments last weekend, though I must admit most of the photos were trees, leaves and the beautiful old homes of Louisville and not too many people. Oops! Thank goodness for a daughter that focused in on the people. Before continuing with Rwanda, I will take a break and share the beauty of Fall in Louisville, Kentucky which of course cannot be separated from the beauty of family interwoven with the leaves. The magnificence of the season includes the colors of the leaves, the height and fullness of the trees, the massive amounts of leaves covering the sidewalks to walk among, pumpkins on porches and in yards everywhere, left-over Halloween decorations, crispness in the air, the scent of coffee and baked goods drifting out of shops, dads pushing strollers in the park, joggers, dogs running after frisbees, people walking everywhere and the grand, old houses reaching high among the trees enveloped by all the colorful leaves. Quite the sight to behold, to feel, to experience walking beside those you love. A bit of heaven on earth, as they say.
