Can we live in the moment whether that be walking down a tree lined path with birds singing
and deer roaming or a hospital room discussing meal options, a possible diagnosis and housecleaning tasks? I think I might be closer to grasping it. Watching a movie with friends, sharing a cup of coffee at the shop on the square, sitting in a doctor's office visiting with other concerned moms and grandmas, discussing a memorial service with one who just lost their loved one...pieces of life often times patched together in the same day. These settings have one thing in common. People. (Except for the walk shared with nature.) We had the privilege of participating in a concert last night put on by young and very talented singers, musicians and song writers. Tyler sang and played with such intensity and passion like nobody's business. Sweetness, sincerity, purity, devotion, genuineness poured from him and his wife Jenny. Landon exuded charm and enthusiasm. I found myself smiling hugely the whole time he was center stage. They shared their stories through talking and singing, playing their instruments and with all that they were. The band that came before was funky. I heard the word "hipsters" used to describe them and much of the crowd following them from Texas State in San Marcos up the road a bit. It was all very, very fun. I got to tell Tyler this morning about one of my favorite things to do. I love to watch someone doing what they are passionately intense about, and I got to see that in action last night in him. What a thrill. He took a walk in our neighborhood after spending the night in our guesthouse, coming back to the house "smitten" because it all reminds him of "Narnia". Wow, what a description. Once again, I am amazed by and grateful for the wonderful young people we get to enjoy passing through our lives. It is such a deep pleasure. In the midst of heartache others are enduring and suffering in the world everywhere, there is great beauty and goodness. May it never get buried too deeply to recover.
